Grosvenor: The Power of Storytelling in Nature Led Urban Regeneration

International property group Grosvenor commissioned Velvet Green to help tell the story of a major climate resilient redevelopment in the heart of London.

Located in Mayfair, Grosvenor Square is being transformed into a world class public green space, featuring c. 70,000 new plants, 44 new trees, new wetlands and c. 80,000 new bulbs, the square will be a natural haven for wildlife and habitats . The project responds directly to the impacts of extreme weather and climate change, while delivering a new public space for Londoners, representing the largest private investment in public green space in the West End for a generation.

At Velvet Green we’re delivering a range of films and visual content to support Grosvenor’s communications strategy, from press and launch materials to thematic explainers exploring the sustainable approach behind the redevelopment.

Our goal is simple, to use the power of visual storytelling to help stakeholders and Londoners understand the near natural approaches shaping the 21st century transformation of a 350 year old historic public square. From unlocking the role of soil in water absorption and drainage, to creating urban habitats for wildlife in a city of 12 million, this project goes far beyond surface level greening. By making these often hidden systems visible, we aim to inspire others to follow Grosvenor’s example and raise the bar for climate resilient urban regeneration.
